The Shaping care Together programme is well underway. This programme is to determine whether Children’s A&E moves to Southport or if Adult’s A&E moved to Ormskirk.
The Ormskirk Adult’s A&E closed in 2020 and at the same time Children’s A&E changed it’s opening times from 24 hours to 08:00 till 23:59.
Reform UK’s Lancashire County Councillor and Lancashire County Council deputy leader Simon Evans (Skelmersdale Central) is fighting the closure of any A&E services at Ormskirk and is wanting full A&E services to be based at Ormskirk. ‘In West Lancashire we have suffered for many years without adequate NHS provision in particular in relation to A&E, we have been the poor cousin to Liverpool, Southport, Wigan, St Helens and beyond. It is time we had real representation and advocacy to change this, why should our children’s A&E be in Southport? We need and we demand that Ormskirk A&E be returned and developed for both children and adults 365 days a year, 24hrs a day, only Reform are demanding this for the residents of West Lancashire.’
The Shaping Care Together consultation has now closed, however you can still have your say, please follow the link Your Say Shaping Care Together.
