Karl Hunter, a Reform UK candidate for West Lancashire Borough Council, has recently collaborated with local residents and Lancashire County Council (LCC) to address signage issues on Carr Lane in Tarleton.
‘Residents have no idea who installed them, but believe they were put up to help foreign truckers avoid getting stuck down tight country lanes or dead-ends. The West Lancashire village is surrounded by farms that supply fruit and veg across the country, so neighbours said they’ve long been used to the rumble of HGVs trundling along the roads’ (Lancs Live).

The official-looking blue signs spotted in Tarleton read ‘Camiones No Pasar,’ meaning ‘Trucks Do Not Pass’ in Spanish. They have been attached to lampposts along narrow country lanes for years, but the council has confirmed they did not install them and will be removing them soon.
Karl has been out speaking to the local residents and in discussions with County Councillor Warren Goldsworthy LCC cabinet member for highways).
Karl’s aim is to keep the signs and the last update from Lancashire County Council is that there is no current plan to remove them.
Karl is looking into replacing them with official LCC signs
